Multiple experiences in our life bring us into an inward journey. The author calls it “spirit navigation.” The key to this ‘spirit’ is energy, frequency, and vibration. When comparing it to Balinese ancient wisdom, the author found a term, in Balinese words that comes close - titi pangancan. How significant is this titi pangancan? The author, with her very fluid and simple narrative, states that the journey requires guidance for a safe passage. Even if someone is skilful, without direction, the journey becomes uncertain. The senses and the mind, which lead outward and come into contact with these objects, can easily lose their way. So, how about the journey inward, something entirely unfamiliar to them? The journey inward is the solution, but this solution presents new problems for them. What is the problem? What tools should be used, what guidance should be followed, and which guidebook should be consulted?
The author eloquently presents that the initial step to delve inward is a prophesied legacy from ancestors. What is that legacy? “Catur paramita, tri kaya parisudha, tat tvam asi, tri hita karana,” and others. The Balinese ancestors used these as guidance for a safe journey. The main issue lies in attitude, character, understanding, and consciousness. The unity between understanding and practice is the character that must be developed if we want our attitude to be illuminated by that consciousness. The ultimate premise is awareness or consciousness. Then, this consciousness is translated into understanding to serve as a platform for action. Actions taken in accordance with that understanding strengthen our character. This character becomes the engine of our conscious attitude.
